Presidents Prattle: February 2023

Well, well it's called thrown in the deep end!

Elected President on the Wednesday night, travelled to the Cottesloe Golf Club Thursday with Steve and Des, Des winning the Official of the Year and Mandurah Manna's winning the 2022 Vorgee Endurance 100. Congratulations to Des, well deserved and also to the swimmers that compete in the Vorgee series.

Once again Mandurah Manna's were well presented in the 2023 Busselton Jetty Swim. 42 swimmers swam in the conditions, not perfect but OK. Special mention to Deb Bloor and Jenny Crake on reaching a 20th swim milestone. Well done ladies!

Garry and Lynnette have booked the Baptist Church Camp for the 2024 Busselton Jetty Swim. Please, if you need this accommodation, contact Lynnette on 0405 234 993. A certain amount of numbers are required to ensure it is viable.

Winner of the "nearest to the time" was Narelle 1st, Jane 2nd and Erica C 3rd. New rules next year, "race committee will be using weight"!!

Four swimmers (not enough for one relay) competed in the Newman Churchland Club meet. This fierce foursome set records. Let's all get together and support the pool comps. Fremantle is next on the 26th March with an 8am warm up and start at 8.45am.

All members that either swam, paddled or skippered (hardest job), supporters either at Cottesloe or on the beach at Rotto, you represented our club with pride.

Port to Pub is on the 18th March, the next long distance swim with a number of our competitors entered. All the best!

Special mention to Wayne Cable and Steve Ferguson for travelling to Tassie, swimming 15km in the Derwent River Swim. Steve is going back to swim in the 35km solo and Barb Pellick is entering a relay team.

The social calendar is on its way!! Please support these events as the Social Committee are working extremely hard to please all members with some fun, fantastic events!

Another success story from with Mandurah Manna's, swimmer Karen Boyce has been recognized for her work in the Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), speaking at Iconic Wealth's Empower Happy Hour at WOTSO Mandurah. Karen is the daughter of proud parents Pauline and Ivan Wingate, who are life members of the club. Great inspiration to our younger generation Karen (for all genders).
