Presidents Prattle: August 2023

August has been and gone in a blink, as they say, time doesn't wait for any man or swimmer!!!

The club is in desperate need of coaches, does anyone out there know of anyone that is willing to train as a coach, the club is happy to help the individual with all training protocols. Wayne, Des, plus their helpers do an excellent job giving their time, but we need more coaches as Wayne says, they are not getting any younger!!! Come on you guys, there must be someone who is prepared to put their hand up or know someone that will.

Tuesday mornings still very popular for training, 10:30am-11:30am, plus with the weather slowly warming up (we hope) it will continue to prove popular and to see the attendance increase. Not only are you improving your fitness but the social morning tea is a must.

We are open for suggestions to improve the format at Doddi's regarding the spotter. What we have implemented is working but if we could improve so that all swimmers could not only see, but hear the spotter, and feel more secure in swimming. We as swimmers are all aware that you swim at Doddi's at your own risk and the spotter is only there for the awareness of shark spotting, not as a lifesaver. The September roster is in need of volunteers, please contact Brett or add your name on the Mandurah Manna's website.

24th September our social committee have nominated Manna's to cook and serve a sausage sizzle at the Greenfields Bunnings store, any members willing to volunteer please contact Greg.

21st October is the Phillips/Banks fund day, Rockingham v Mandurah. The event is to be held at the Aqua Jetty in Warnbro, 10:30am-2:30pm. We will need numbers so please if you can attend, inform either Alex or myself. Always an enjoyable day plus yummy food is provided after the swim.

22nd October is the Stadium Masters ABC swim meet, entries will be open in due course.

The Open Water calendar will be out in due course, let's get behind the Open Water Masters Swim and support the local clubs.

Don't forget our club swim on the 19th November. This is a short course event but we will need as many members either swimming or putting t

heir hands up to volunteer.

Special thanks to Sue and Keith Giles for providing the club with a perfect venue for our soup and curry night, great to see so many swimmers with their partners attending.

Keep on swimming.
