Thanks to St John Ambulance

Mandurah Masters would like to thank Tony and Ron from St John Ambulance for presenting a valuable CPR and First Aid short course yesterday which they tailored to our needs as a Swimming Club. The course was attended by 9 Mannas, most who regularly swim at Doddi's. A special thanks to Ray for organising this event.

Important points covered include stroke and heart attack awareness, as well as using the Defib and doing CPR as part of a team. View the video above for some entertaining instructions on giving CPR.

For a Stroke, the signs to look for are:

F Face - Can the person smile, has their mouth or eyes drooped?

A Arms - Can the person raise their arms?

S Speech - Can the person speak clearly?

T Time to Act! - Phone 000 (or 112 on a mobile)

For a Heart Attack, the signs to look for are:

  • Chest pains

  • Shortness of breath

  • Cold sweat

  • Pains in the neck, Jaw, Arms, Shoulders, Throat, or Back

  • Feeling dizzy

  • Light headed

Stop, rest and make them comfortable - Phone 000 (or 112 on a mobile)
