President's Prattle - October 2019

A big thank you to committee members who have been keeping the club running very smoothly (as they always do) during my absences this year. I am back with no more trips in the foreseeable future so am looking forward to getting back into the swing of it all.

It seems a lot of you were busy either swimming or ‘dressing up’ for Bogan Bingo or doing both. From the photos taken on the night there is sure to be a big turn out to the Fashion Show at the upcoming Xmas do on the 7th December.

Whilst I was away the membership turned over past the 100 mark which is fabulous. I am looking forwards to meeting the new members either at the beach or pool. Thank you Hazel, our club Registrar, who does all the behind the scenes work in ensuring our new members are looked after and receive their welcome packs.

Thank you to Des, Hazel, Sue Mac and Jan who were at the pool last Saturday promoting the club at the MARC Open Day. Not sure if we attracted any new members, but it is always a positive thing to promote our club and support MARC.

The last of the Pool competitions is on next Sunday at Fremantle, which has always been a fun meet to attend. The first of the WOW Open Water Swims is on at Lake Leschenaultia on Sunday 10th November. In the past that event has always been a good day out with our swimmers usually doing quite well with bringing home prizes.

Our own WOW swim is of course on Australia Day next year and the committee have already spent a lot of time and energy planning for this annual event.

There are many swim events coming up over the next few months with details on our Club website for your information. Thank you to Steve F who keeps it to date as well as adding other interesting items.

We have some of the new club shirts available, see me for details if you wish to purchase one.

Over the next few months there is something for us all to aim for. If you are a pool swimmer you are probably aware the State Swim event is being held here in Mandurah and no doubt are keen to participate. We will keep you informed of our involvement as details become clearer. If you are into the Open Water Swims, there is a full calendar of events to choose from over the summer months.

Happy swimming to you all.

Deborah
