State Championships 2022

Our small and enthusiastic team of 6 at the State Championships meeting acquitted themselves fantastically well this past weekend.

Our own 'Iron Lady', Pauline Wingate, in true Katinka Hosszu (look her up) style, backed up from 100m events to 200's to 50's, winning all of her 6 (including her 200m breast in a new State record time) and even beating Helen Bird (who was herself setting new National records) in their 50m butterfly heat.

Kirk and Mike both gave themselves a big workload for the weekend including doing questionable things like swimming the 200m backstroke then backing up into the 200m individual medley about 15 to 20 minutes later. Kirk had 5 wins and 1 second, Mike had 6 wins.

Alex was very impressive particularly in her backstroke events, setting new PB's and club records whilst Karen swam exceptionally well, particularly in her breaststroke events where she won her 50m and 100m heats.

Pauline, Kirk and Mike each won their age group medals whilst our two non-swimming support crew, Ivan and Kim provided moral support.
