2019 Doddi's Dash Photos & Results
The 2019 Doddi's Dash was held on Saturday 7 December in challenging conditions. Of the nearly 40 swimmers entered, only 30 made it to the start line. As you can see from the great photo's Ivan took, everyone had a great time. Most importantly, we raised $360 to donate to Mandurah's Dot's Place Cancer Support Centre - Well done everyone!
Congratulations to Brett Matters as the winner of the 2019 "Barb Pellick" Golden Goggles Perpetual Trophy. The rough conditions favoured the stronger swimmers and better navigators. Brett's swim was outstanding - Well done Brett!
Other prize winners were:
2nd Place - Glenda Hurtado Glenda's devious plan of feining illness and not attending training for the last week to improve her handicap nearly paid off.
3rd Place - Sue Johnston Sue relied on her racing experience to pip young Jack on the run (walk) to the finish line.
Thomas Cook Most Scenic Swim - Marta Daniel Marta turned a 1km swim into a 2km swim, which could have been even longer if not for John swimming out and providing some directions.
Least sporting conduct - Sue McDonald It was thought that Paul fell in the last few metres to the finish line and was kindly helped by those around him, except for Sue who gave him a kick as she ran past to pick up a respectable 13th (lucky for some) placing. As it turns out, Paul didn't actually fall - the photos show Sue pushing swimmers over in her rush to the finish line, making her a worthy winner indeed!
Thank you to Des, Barb and John for taking on multiple roles on the day. Des as Referee and Timekeeper, Barb as Registrar and Race Director and John as Donald Trump and Safety Officer.
A very special thanks to President Deb, who not only organised and coordinated the event in the weeks prior, she bought and labelled all the prizes, organised all the sweets and still managed to top her past performance in the fashion parade.
