2018 Coogee Jetty to Jetty Swim
Thank you to Hazel for standing as Club Photographer to allow Ivan to swim.
Sunday 11 March 2018 saw the 22nd running of the Coogee Jetty to Jetty swim on another beautiful sunny autumn morning. The assembled Mandurah Mannas team numbered 26 extraordinarily well prepared swimmers supported by their entourage of fans.
Well done to Cockburn Masters for organising another great event at what must be in the top two open water swimming venues in the State. Apparently, swims now have themes! This year the Coogee J2J theme was ducks symbolising the 22nd running of the event by adopting the Bingo call for 22 being "two little ducks". Unfortunately, their large floating duck "Dafnee" ducked off before the event started. Her early departure was blamed on a gust of wind and was raised many many (2 many) times!
In the 1500m Swim, Mandurah was represented by a team of 25 swimmers who came a creditable 4th in the Masters Team competition that is dominated by Clubs with a younger demographic.
The first Female Manna out of the water was Rebekah in 17:51.04. Simon was the first male Manna out of the water in a lazy 20:53.00. In the 750m Swim, Vern added to his growing OWS credentials by being the first Male Manna out of the water in a very respectable 16:25.04.
It is great to see the improvement in so many of our swimmers, as demonstrated by all those who knocked off a significant amount time from last year's swim, including: Simon, Capt. Jen, VP Joel, Anne Marie, Kirk, Debra, Jane, Greg, Sue Mc, Jan, and Ann.
Well done everyone!
