Anwar and Jennifer set new Club Records at Bunbury Skins Meet

Congratulations to Anwar and Jennifer for setting new Club Records at the Bunbury Skins Meet last weekend. Isn't it great to see a new crop of strong young swimmers coming through!

Anwar set a new Club Long Course record for the Men's 35 to 39 Age Group 50 m Backstroke with a time of 31:22. This beats Paul Birch's 1997 time of 40:26 (not sure if that was a long or short course time?). As a matter of interest, the WA, National and World records for this event are 28:73, 28:46 and 26:99, respectively.

Anwar's swim scored a whopping 646 Fina points, which takes him to 2nd on the Mandurah Fina Points Table for the best swim of the year. At the moment Ryan Spencer is leading with 661 Fina points for a 50m Freestyle in the same age group.

Jennifer set a new Club Long Course record for the Women's 30 to 34 Age Group 50 m Butterfly with a time of 33:11, just pipping Jazmyn Tobin's 2011 time of 33:93. As a matter of interest, the WA, National and World records for this Age Group and event are 29:42, 28:89 and 27:48, respectively.

Jennifer's swim scored a very respectable 542 Fina points, but doesn't beat her 586 Fina Point 50m Short Course Freestyle swim at the Golden Groper State Relay Meet on the 23rd of July, which has her in 5th place on the Mandurah Fina Points Table for the best swim of the year.

Click Here to view the current Mandurah Fina Points Table. For those with a mathematical bent the Fina points for each swim is (base time/swim time)^3 x 1000. Currently, the base time is the FINA Masters World Record as at 1 November 2015.

Let's hope Anwar and Jennifer can keep their record breaking runs a the Stadium Snappers meet this Sunday.
