Maida Vale Masters hosted Round 1 of the MSWA 2016/17 Open Water Swim Season at Lake Leschenaultia in Chidlow on Sunday 13 November 2016. The event was well attended with 160 swimmers, including a Mandurah Mannas team of 13 swimmers, 1 official and 2 supporters. L to R - Deb, John, Ann, Glenda, Deb, Paul, Sue, Colleen, Steve, Des, Wayne, Greg, Hazel and Jan. Avoiding the camera were supporters Kay and Helen.
Organisers couldn't have ordered better conditions with a warm sunny day, blue sky, light winds and flat water. Those prophesying cold water were off the mark, with all the hardened Doddi's swimmers finding the water temperature very pleasant and much warmer than they were accustomed too.
Everyone swam well, with Colleen 3rd out of the water in her first OWS. John and Glenda were the first male and female Mannas out of the water. The slippery swim times and mammoth feast put on after the swim will definitely see some swimmers carrying more weight in the Doddi's Dash.
